Departmental Lecturer in Technology and International Development

The Oxford Department of International Development seeks applications for a three-year, full-time Departmental Lectureship in Technology and International Development. The Departmental Lecturer will provide teaching and supervision for the MPhil in Development Studies and carry out related independent research. The Departmental Lecturer will be responsible to the Head of Department and work under the supervision of the Course Director of the MPhil in Development Studies. We would welcome applications from those with research and teaching interests in innovation policy, technology transfer, industrial policy and with an ability to teach in an inter- and multi-disciplinary development studies programme. A regional interest in China and/or the Middle East is desirable. The MPhil seeks to promote diversification and decolonization of the curriculum and teaching approaches.

This post is offered full time and fixed-term for 3 years.

The successful applicant will hold, or be close to completion of a doctorate in development studies, economics, politics, or in related fields, with a disciplinary grounding in international development, and with a regional focus China or the Middle East. They will also have an aptitude for teaching and some experience of teaching and research. A sufficient depth and breadth of knowledge in the subject to develop course materials and research proposals are essential for this role.
