Associate Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering
The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) department at Florida International University (FIU) in Miami, Florida, invites applications for faculty positions at the Associate Professor level tenured or tenured-track. ECE seeks exceptional scholars, with particular emphasis on Artificial Intelligence and Artificial Intelligence/Automation. Candidates whose research focuses on AI and AI/Automation—are especially encouraged to apply. A doctorate in Electrical and Computer Engineering or a related discipline is required, along with a proven track record of impactful research and dedication to excellent teaching. Successful candidates should demonstrate ongoing engagement with funded research, scholarly publications, professional service, and leadership in significant projects. The roles involve graduate and undergraduate teaching responsibilities, as well as active involvement in departmental and university activities.
As a part of the College of Engineering and Computing (CEC), ECE encompasses several research labs that focus or integrate AI toward real-world applications and is interested in expanding capacity. ECE has nearly 45 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, many of whom have received prestigious awards such as NSF, DOE, DOW CAREER or Young Investigator, along with other national recognitions for their excellence. Our research is supported by federal grants from agencies including NIH, NSF, DOW, DARPA, DOE, DHS, and DOT.
ECE serves over 1400 students, featuring more than 100 Ph.D. candidates and 124 M.S. students. ECE continues to expand its exciting programs in research, education, and outreach. Degree offerings include B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. programs in Electrical and Computer Engineering; B.S. and M.S. degrees in Applied AI & IoT, and a full online MS in Electrical Engineering and MS in Computer Engineering with areas of interest in Cybersecurity, AI, Automation, and Quantum.
