About the Role:
Flinders University is seeking a distinguished Associate Professor or Professorial Research Fellow in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) to provide leadership and vision in advancing research excellence. This is a unique opportunity to apply cutting-edge research to national priority areas, including advanced manufacturing, sustainable energy systems, and other critical technologies.
The successful candidate will play a key role in shaping the strategic research direction of the College, attracting substantial external funding, fostering international collaborations, and mentoring early and mid-career researchers. You will contribute to building Flinders’ reputation as a global leader in AI and ML research, while actively engaging with industry, government, and other stakeholders.
This position is open to interstate and international candidates. Relocation and visa support are available.
About You:
You are an internationally recognised researcher in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), with a distinguished record of innovation, leadership, and research impact. You are passionate about advancing the field through mentorship, strategic research leadership, and collaboration with industry, government, and academic partners, both nationally and internationally.
You will also demonstrate:
- Completion of a PhD or equivalent in AI, ML, or a closely related discipline.
- An outstanding research track record with high-quality publications, significant competitive grant success, and demonstrated research impact.
- Experience in strategic leadership and management of research programs, including supervision of Higher Degree Research students and early/mid-career researchers.
- A strong history of international collaboration and engagement, contributing to the advancement of AI/ML research globally.
- Knowledge of intellectual property, research commercialisation, and ethical research practice
