The Graduate Center (GC) is the focal point for advanced teaching and research at the City University of New York (CUNY), the nation's largest urban public university. The Ph.D. Program in Theatre and Performance at the Graduate Center seeks an Associate Professor with tenure to begin in Fall 2027. Internationally recognized scholars whose work is transnational and collaborative in scope are especially encouraged to apply. We seek a breadth of candidates and are particularly interested in applications from scholars working on European theatre and performance, with preference for those with research interests in one or more of the following areas: transatlantic and/or global engagements; theoretical approaches in theatre and/or performance studies; political and/or cultural contestations; and/or mobility and movement. We wish to attract scholars who approach theatre and performance studies from an interdisciplinary and multilinguistic perspective through historically and theoretically grounded research. The successful candidate will be expected to teach a range of courses, including required core courses, as well as advise and direct a range of research projects.

QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience in all facets of a faculty position including teaching, research, and service.
• Experience on thesis and/or dissertation committees is preferred as well as a commitment to advising and mentoring.
