Associate Professor (WLHSDM Prosthodontics)
Major/Essential Functions
- Participates in course administration and instruction for the dental school curriculum
- Develops and delivers an integrated curriculum, which blends basic science and clinical concepts, in collaboration with faculty members in other disciplines
- Employs multiple teaching methods including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, team-based learning, and distance education
- Provides formative and summative assessment of dental student performance
- Provides individual support, feedback, and advice to dental students
- Works closely with the course and curriculum committees, fellow faculty, and key administrators to accomplish the goals and objectives of the dental school's curriculum
- Engages in scholarship and academically-related public service
- Engages in clinical practice of prosthodontics
- Adheres to institutional policies and procedures
- Demonstrates professionalism in accordance with the Woody L. Hunt School of Dental Medicine Declaration of Faculty Professional Responsibility
Required Qualifications
- D.M.D./D.D.S. or equivalent degree
- Successful completion of CODA-accredited training program in prosthodontics
- A minimum of one-year experience in teaching prosthodontics
- Texas Dental Licensure or eligibility for an unrestricted Texas Dental License
Preferred Qualifications
- Board certification by the American Board of Prosthodontics
- Experience in teaching prosthodontics as clinically-integrated restorative dentistry to dental students
- Experience in teaching dental materials in clinically-integrated restorative dentistry to dental students
- Experience in the use of medical/dental imaging, laboratory findings, restorations, and clinical case-based scenarios in the teaching of prosthodontics
- Clinical practice experience in prosthodontics
- Experience in development and delivery of an integrated dental curriculum
- Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, laboratory-based instruction, team-based learning, case-based learning, problem-based learning, and distance education
- Experience with curriculum and clinical management software systems
- Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to dental education
- Experience in dental education scholarship
- Experience in the development of grant proposals and the management of extramural funding
- Emerging or established regional or national reputation for associate professor or higher rank
