Associate Professorship in Development Economics

The Oxford Department of International Development (ODID) and Wolfson College seek applications for an Associate Professor in Development Economics. The appointment is for a permanent and full-time post, subject to successful completion of the initial period of office.

The successful candidate should have a doctorate in economics with a strong development and/or international economics content. They will also have an outstanding research record and potential in international development economics; postgraduate-level university teaching experience in development economics, including thesis supervision; the ability to effectively teach economics to graduate students from other disciplines; and proven experience in assessment and the administration of degree programmes are essential for this role.

The appointee will be required to engage in research and to contribute to the Department's and University's reputation for research excellence by publishing research findings in books, book chapters and articles in prestigious, peer-reviewed journals, as appropriate. They will also be expected to develop courses, provide teaching and supervision to graduate students on taught courses, and to cooperate in curriculum development, in particular in the MSc in Economics for Development.

In addition to the duties relating to the University side of the post, as a Governing Body Fellow of Wolfson College, the appointee will be a Trustee of the College, which is legally an independent charity. They will be expected to attend Governing Body six times a year, act as an adviser to up to ten graduate students, and participate in the College Committee system during term-time.

We encourage all eligible candidates to apply for our vacancies and join us in pursuing our goals.
