Description
The Brain Metastasis group at the Department of Pathology and Yale Cancer Center wishes to hire an Associate Research Scientist (ARS) who will coordinate translational research collaborations and anchor clinical and basic research projects on brain metastasis. This position will serve as the interface between the clinical and laboratory settings for development of shared research resources, ongoing collection of clinical specimens, and integration of laboratory data into research databases. This person will be responsible for overall program cohesion as well as management of the above shared resources across multidisciplinary and multi-institutional projects. With a high degree of independence, the ARS will coordinate with university and hospital departments as well as collaborating physicians and research laboratories to participate in all aspects of translational research.
Expected responsibilities would include:
a) Ensuring compliance with HIC/IRB for both basic science and clinical protocols.
b) Screen weekly Operating room (OR), gamma knife (GK) and clinic schedules to identify project relevant cases for clinical data and tissue collection
c) Consent of research patients for the collection of tissue samples
d) Collect relevant samples from Yale OR and Trumbull clinic and transfer to lab for processing
e) Data entry and maintenance of GK and clinical databases
f) Extraction of data, with potential statistical analysis for publication or inclusion in multidisciplinary and multicentered studies
g) Assistance with MPI grant submission and progress reports
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have a PhD or MD degree in a biomedical or clinical related field, preferably with at least 2 years of prior research experience.
