Associate Research Scientist

The Hunt Lab in the Department of Biological Sciences at Columbia University is seeking an Associate Research Scientist to join a molecular biophysics laboratory.

This role focuses on leveraging an understanding of molecular mechanisms and dynamics to develop novel therapeutic approaches. The successful candidate will contribute to research at the interface of structural biology, biophysics, and drug discovery.

Required Qualifications:

  • PhD in molecular biology, biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, medicinal chemistry, or computational chemistry.
  • A minimum of four years of related research experience following completion of the PhD.
  • At least two years of hands-on laboratory experience in protein expression and purification, including purification of integral membrane proteins.
  • At least two years of experience in determining and refining molecular structures using one or more of the following techniques:
    • X-ray crystallography
    • Cryogenic electron microscopy (cryo-EM)
    • Nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy
  • Demonstrated proficiency with UNIX-based operating systems for large-scale data analysis.
  • Proficiency in Python programming or experience operating advanced computational chemistry software systems.
