Associate Senior Lecturer/Assistant Professor* in Agricultural Water Management
This position is at the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU), Faculty of Natural Resources and Agricultural Sciences, Department of Soil and Environment. It is part of Mistra's initiative Mistra Environmental Research Leaders, which supports early-career researchers in environment and sustainability, and is linked to SLU's SLU Futures initiative.
SLU is a world-class university in life science and environmental sciences. The Department of Soil and Environment focuses on sustainable land use, researching soil properties, environmental and climate change effects, and more. The position is in the research group for Agricultural Water Management and Water Quality.
Subject Area
The subject encompasses Agricultural Water Management oriented towards hydrological processes and technologies for drainage, irrigation, and measures for water quality.
Duties
The associate senior lecturer is expected to develop their own research line within the subject area, focusing on natural and engineered water infrastructure in agricultural fields and landscapes. Research should be conducted in close collaboration with colleagues at the department and SLU, as well as through national and international collaborations. Additional duties include:
- Applying for external research funding and publishing scientific articles.
- Contributing to the development of a research team in the subject area.
- Participating in postgraduate education as co-supervisor.
- Teaching at first, second, and third cycle levels, including doctoral level.
- Further developing pedagogical skills.
- Collaborating with relevant actors in public, private, and policy sectors.
Swedish and English are used at the department. The position requires using Swedish as the working language within four years, with language support provided.
Eligibility
Eligible candidates hold a PhD or equivalent qualifications, preferably received no longer than seven years before the application deadline. Good ability to communicate in written and spoken English is required.
Assessment Criteria
Assessment is based on research expertise, ability to develop a research line, and qualify for promotion. Experience in engineered and natural solutions for water infrastructure is a merit.
The employment is a 100% time-limited position in Uppsala, with the possibility to apply for promotion to senior lecturer.
