Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights
The California State University (CSU) seeks a strategic, proficient, and collaborative Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights (AVC). Reporting to the Vice Chancellor of Human Resources, the AVC leads a highly skilled team that provides centralized strategic planning, oversight, support, and resources to the CSU’s university-level Title IX and other civil rights offices.
The Associate Vice Chancellor for Civil Rights (AVC) serves as a strategic, agile, knowledgeable and collaborative advisor, leader, and change agent for the systemwide civil rights enterprise, inclusive of the 22 campuses and the Chancellor’s Office, and serves as strategic advisor to the Vice Chancellor and campus leadership on all matters related to civil rights and compliance. The AVC leads a team of 15 professionals within the Chancellor’s Office, located in Long Beach, CA, including a team of Systemwide Senior Directors for Civil Rights who serve as key liaisons and advisors for campus civil rights staff. The Chancellor’s Office Civil Rights team also includes support for investigations, hearings, and resolutions as well as whistleblower complaints.
The AVC will provide systemwide vision, strategic direction, and oversight for all civil rights efforts, and guide and mentor campus civil rights teams to ensure the continued implementation of best practices and compliance with all state and federal laws and University policies. The AVC will serve as an expert resource to campus civil rights staff, campus leadership, the Chancellor, and the CSU Board of Trustees and will ensure accurate, detailed, and timely information reporting and data management related to civil rights matters and systemwide operations.

Compensation and Benefits
The compensation range for this position is $240,000 – 294,924 with a generous benefits package designed to support physical, mental, and financial wellness.
