Position Description
The Department of Pharmacy Practice at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy is seeking a full-time, non-tenure-track faculty member with experience or interest in toxicology for the Practice Management Division to serve as the Managing Director of the Texas Panhandle Poison Center (TPPC). This position offers outstanding opportunities to develop new interprofessional collaborations with the internationally recognized Infant Risk Center and the Texas Tech School of Veterinary Medicine, expanding the scope and reach of innovative patient care and scholarship.
The TTUHSC Jerry H. Hodge School of Pharmacy delivers dynamic educational programs and patient care services across four campuses in Amarillo, Abilene, Dallas/ Fort Worth, and Lubbock, Texas. Based on the Amarillo Campus, the TPPC is one of six poison centers in Texas that make up the Texas Poison Center Network. TPPC has been providing services to residents of the Texas Panhandle for over 30 years, with a designated area that includes 71 counties, one-quarter of the land mass of Texas, and serves approximately 1.4 M people. The Managing Director will provide administrative oversight and leadership of the poison center staff and programs, including accreditation, safe and accurate management of poison center calls and cases, and the center’s nationally recognized Medication Cleanout™ initiative, a medication take-back program designed to prevent poisonings, misuse, and abuse while protecting the environment. Effort and time will be split between faculty and poison center responsibilities, with the majority spent overseeing the TPPC operations.
At the School of Pharmacy, department members on our four campuses are part of a division and recognized at the local, state, and national professional levels. The size and diversity of the divisions allow significant new faculty mentorship and multiple opportunities for teaching and scholarly collaboration, both within and between the different divisions. The School of Pharmacy provides new faculty members with programs to help them transition into the academic environment where they will provide didactic and experiential teaching, conduct scholarship, and provide school and university service.
