Athletic Trainer - Temporary
Overview
Princeton University Athletic Medicine is seeking a Casual Hourly Athletic Trainer to provide on-site coverage and injury care, under the guidance and oversight of the Head Athletic Trainer and direction of the University Health Services Physicians. This is an 4 month temporary position with an anticipated need for 20-35 hours per week.
As a part of the health care team, the athletic trainer provides injury and illness prevention, wellness promotion and education, emergent care, recognition, examination, and clinical diagnosis, therapeutic intervention, and rehabilitation of injuries and medical conditions.
Responsibilities
Clinical Care
- Provide on-site coverage of practices and competitions as assigned.
- Provide injury care to student athletes during assigned practice sessions and competitions.
- Perform initial management, clinical evaluation, and diagnosis of student athlete injuries that occur during assigned coverage.
- Administer first-aid and emergency care as indicated.
- Refer student athlete injuries for Team Physician evaluation where appropriate and clinically indicated.
- Administer therapeutic and rehabilitative interventions to treat student athlete injuries to ready them for practice and competition.
- Apply protective or prophylactic taping, wrapping, padding or bracing.
Administrative Management
- Document evaluation of student athlete injury
- Maintain relevant injury communications with staff athletic trainers, team physicians, coaches and student athletes.
Qualifications
- Must be a Certified Athletic Trainer by the Board of Certification for the Athletic Trainer.
- Must be licensed to practice Athletic Training in New Jersey by the New Jersey Athletic Training Advisory Committee.
- Must be certified in CPR/AED for the Professional Rescuer or Healthcare Provider.
- Availability and willingness to work weekday afternoons/nights/weekends. Opportunity for team travel may be available.
