Automotive Technology Adjunct Instructor
Job Description
Provide instruction in the Automotive Technology program, preparing students to apply technical knowledge and hands-on skills in the repair, service, and maintenance of automobiles. Instruction includes brake systems, electrical systems, engine performance, engine repair, suspension and steering, transmissions and drivetrains (manual and automatic), heating and air conditioning, and related areas, following ASE Education Foundation guidelines. Teaching schedules may include day or evening classes, depending on availability and course offerings. Collaborate with the Automotive Program at Los Medanos College and the high school to support student success and assist in placing students within the automotive industry.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Providing instruction in accordance with established curriculum, course outlines, and class schedules;
- Creating and maintaining an environment which emphasizes learning, encourages free discussion of ideas and critical thinking;
- Evaluating progress of students concerning educational matters and grading student work;
- Meeting with students outside of class;
- Maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics;
- Maintaining current knowledge in the subject matter areas;
- Fulfilling professional responsibilities of a part-time/temporary faculty member;
- Maintaining accurate academic records;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Understanding of and sensitivity to the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, sexual orientation, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, staff, and faculty. An Associates Degree and six years of professional work experience, or a Bachelors degree and two years of professional experience.
License/Certificates/Credentials
ASE A1-A8, EPA section 609 license.
Salary
Adjunct instructor classroom faculty pay rate is $77.87-$128.97 per hour (up to $151.16).

Employment Details
Position is temporary, part-time faculty in the Vocational Technology department, Automotive Technology discipline. Employment begins October 2025.
