Salary: Grade 5 £32,108 - £35,681

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to ensure the functionality of AV systems across multiple new flagship sites in the University as well as our existing estate as part of the Educational Media Services team. The role will entail working with colleagues in Educational Media Services to support the teaching and learning objectives of the University and reporting to the AV Support Service Officer.
This role supports teaching staff as well as a range of activities including lectures, meetings, events, and online hybrid working.
The AV technician is required to provide end users with support, consultancy, recommendations, and advice on how to use AV related software as well as AV and IT hardware such as PTZ cameras, microphones, projectors, touch screens, and visualisers.
About You
Essential Criteria:
- Experience supporting AV systems, with a strong customer service focus and interest in new tech.
- BTEC/NVQ (or equivalent) with practical AV/IT experience.
- Familiarity with AV equipment (projectors, audio, videoconferencing, lighting).
- Solid IT skills across hardware, Windows/Mac OS, and troubleshooting AV/IT issues.
- Practical and flexible individual—able to set up rooms, manage equipment, and assist users.
- Clear communicator with a professional, calm approach under pressure.
- Good admin skills—comfortable maintaining accurate incident logs and communicating status updates to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong problem-solver, works well independently and in a team.
Desirable:
- Experience with video production.
- Experience working in a university, school or large public venue AV environment.
- Knowledge of IT networks and wireless systems.
