Baker
Basic Function and Responsibility:
Prepares, portions, kneads, scales, molds, bakes and fries large quantities of prepared doughs to produce baked and fried items from oral instructions and written recipes, under the general supervision of the Head Baker. Heavy lifting is necessary.
Characteristic Duties:
- Supervises and monitors assigned work to support personnel.
- Portions and prepares mixed dough for ovens and fryers using appropriate machines and equipment.
- Operates ovens maintaining maximum capacity.
- Operates fry-o-later maintaining maximum capacity.
- Produces specialty items for catered functions.
- Decorates cookies, cakes, and pastries by hand.
- Loads baked products on trays and trucks for transport to units.
- Monitors and utilizes inventory controls.
- Assists in training other support staff in specific tasks.
- Monitors and participates in the sanitation of work and cooking area.
- Cleans work areas and benches.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervision Received:
Reports directly to the Head Baker/Supervisor. Assists in the supervision of the Baker's Helper and Utility Worker.
Hiring Range: $26.48/hr to $29.42/hr. Pay rate commensurate with relevant experience.
Requirements
Qualifications:
Education: Formal training in baking is preferred but not required. NRA ServSafe certification required and MRA Allergen certification.
Experience: One to three years experience as a baker or baker's helper.
Experience in a high volume high quality bakery is a must.
Skills: Must possess knowledge of a wide range of baking techniques and donut making safe equipment handling procedures, sanitation and safety
