Summary of Position

The Psychology and Behavioral Health department at RRCC is seeking an instructor to predominately teach Behavioral Health courses. Duties may include teaching in various modalities (in-person, hybrid, remote, hyflex, concurrent, or online), conducting student assessments, and ensuring courses meet approved outcomes and outlines. Responsibilities also involve applying culturally responsive education and fostering inclusive learning environments.

This position reports to the Department Chair. The work schedule for this position varies with classes held at the Lakewood location. Instructions may take place on days, evenings, or weekends.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with faculty/staff and healthcare providers and industry partners at all levels
  • Understanding of teaching best practices
  • Organization, prioritization and time management skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Suite
  • Ability to work collaboratively and build relationships in a diverse work environment
  • Ability to provide effective feedback and receive constructive criticism
  • Knows and applies best practices in diversity and inclusion practices

Required Qualifications
Applicants must meet one of the following:
* Eligible for CTE credentialing in the State of Colorado
* Hold an unencumbered professional license in the State of Colorado, or be eligible to obtain licensure

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of two (2) years' equivalent full-time experience in the behavioral health field w/in the last five (5) years

  • Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion principles and strategies

Course-Specific Qualification Requirements

For 1000- & 2000-Level BEH Courses
(BEH 1001, 1020, 1030, 1040, 2001, 2030)

Applicants must meet one of the following:

Option 1
* Associate degree or higher in a healthcare, behavioral healthcare, or closely related field
* AND 4,000 verified occupational / industry hours
OR recent teaching of behavioral health content within the past five (5) years

Option 2
* Associate degree or higher in a healthcare, behavioral healthcare, or closely related field
* AND Completion of Behavioral Health Assistant II micro credential (or closely comparable program) with a grade of B or better

Option 3
* Valid and current EMT, AEMT, or Paramedic certification
* AND 4,000 verified occupational / industry hours
* AND Completion of Behavioral Health Assistant II micro credential (or closely comparable program) with a grade of B or better

Option 4
* Completion of Behavioral Health Assistant II micro credential with a grade of B or better
* AND 4,000 verified occupational / industry hours
OR recent teaching of behavioral health content within the past five (5) years

BEH 1060

Applicants must meet one of the following:
* Valid BCBA credential (BCBA, BCBA-D)
* OR Delegated Assistant Trainer under BCBA supervision
(BCBA retains professional and ethical accountability)

BEH 1050
* Peer Support Professional
* AND Minimum one (1) year of experience conducting peer support trainings aligned with SAMHSA core competencies

Physical & Cognitive Demands

The following are some of the physical and cognitive demands commonly associated with this position.

  • Occasionally moves, positions, and transports files and office materials weighing up to 10 lbs.
  • This is largely a sedentary role. This position operates in an office environment and constantly uses a computer, and routinely uses standard office equipment including phones, copiers, etc.
  • The person in this position constantly communicates with internal and external constituents and students. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Cognitive demands include comparing, copying, computing, compiling, analyzing, coordinating, synthesizing, negotiating, communicating, instructing, and interpersonal skills.

Advertised Pay
The hourly pay for this position is $1,177.73 -$1,294.58 per credit hour, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need.

This position has been exempted from the State Classified System.
