Job Summary

Supports Cleveland State University's (CSU) employee benefit programs, including health, wellness, and retirement plans for employees. Delivers high-level customer service through a variety of communication channels, assisting employees with eligibility, enrollment, and claims inquiries. Serves as a liaison between our employees and the carriers and will be responsible for maintaining compliance and data integrity across all systems. Performs other functionally related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A bachelor's degree, preferably in HR, business administration, or related field.
  • Experience in benefit administration.
  • Related work experience may be substituted for education requirement. One (1) year of related work experience can be substituted for one (1) year of education. For example, a candidate with a high school diploma, GED or state recognized equivalent and four (4) years of related work experience can be eligible to apply.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, and other laws affecting benefit programs, including ACA, FMLA, COBRA, ADA, and Section 125.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and the ability develop and deliver effective presentations.
  • Strong organizational and excellent interpersonal skills and have a "Customer Focus" attitude and delivery.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Skilled in project management, problem-solving, analysis, follow-through, influence, and persuasion.
  • Ability to use affective judgment and related methodology.
  • Ability to build and maintain professional relationships and work as an individual contributor and an effective collaborator, in addition to being self-directed and forward-thinking.
  • Ability to set priorities and organize work in order to accomplish assigned tasks.
  • Ability to manage confidential employee information with discretion and good judgement.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Teams, and PowerPoint.
