BERT Behavioral Health Psychiatric Professional
Involves patient care services for a range of mental health disorders, often severe including major depressive disorders, paranoia, schizophrenia, or bipolar disorder. Settings may be inpatient, outpatient or clinical research studies. Patient care may be provided by a combination of licensed clinicians, as well as counselors and crisis intervention specialists. Patients typically require routine assistance, treatment or a specialized and controlled environment. Primary emphasis on treatment and attempt where possible to help patients control their own lives in the outside world, with the use of a combination of psychiatric drugs and psychotherapy.
This clinician has autonomous professional responsibility for 5150 evaluations, emergency behavioral health assessments, level of care determination, and interventions with patients and families. The incumbent makes recommendations to medical staff regarding the level of care determination of behavioral health and psychiatric patients. This clinician will work collaboratively with medical and nursing staff and other behavioral health and psychiatric staff to assess and care for behavioral health and psychiatric patients and family members in Emergency Departments and other healthcare settings. May function as a program manager or administrator of a psychiatric department or clinic. May lead in planning and coordinating the work of a multidisciplinary treatment staff. Assists with long-term planning; revises / implements new procedures; conducts training for professional and paraprofessional staff members; and provides psychotherapeutic treatment with emphasis on the most severely disturbed and high risk cases.

Please note: An offer will take into consideration the experience of the final candidate AND the current salary level of individuals working at UCSF in a similar role.
For roles covered by a bargaining unit agreement, there will be specific rules about where a new hire would be placed on the range.
Salary Range: $36.25 to $76.87
