The University of Kansas Cancer Center (KUCC) is seeking to recruit a full time academic clinical physician/investigator with demonstrated interest in cancer prevention to join an expanding team in delivering the highest quality of care, as well as satisfying teaching, research, and academic responsibilities at a premier health system in the Midwest. This position will have the opportunity to work within the Division of Medical Oncology and the Breast Cancer Prevention Research Center.
The Medical Oncology Division provides compassionate, state-of-the-art medical care to cancer patients; developing novel therapeutic and treatment options through clinical, translational, and molecular research; and educating and training the field's next generation of cancer experts, with 36 faculty members dedicated to developing innovative treatments for these patients.
The High-Risk Breast Clinic and the Breast Cancer Prevention Research Center sees over 1000 new consults per year including individuals at high risk for breast cancer due to family history, hereditary cancer syndrome, high risk breast biopsy and other risk factors. This hybrid clinical and research program offers counseling on breast cancer screening, early detection and risk reduction including opportunities to participate in breast cancer prevention clinical trials.
Tenure track appointments are full-time with an initial probationary period of seven years. Criteria for promotion includes significant achievements in teaching, research/scholarship, and service. The award of tenure is based on potential for sustained contributions, performing beyond expected duties, and demonstrating leadership and innovation in activities that enhance the reputation of the University.
The Clinical Scholar Track is for full-time faculty members who are heavily involved in clinical service, education, and related scholarship. This track has two career paths: Clinician-Educator concentrating on teaching and Clinician-Investigator for concentrating on research/scholarship. Job Description
- Establish ambulatory clinic for medical oncology population with focus on the high-risk breast population.
- Participate in consults, inpatient service coverage and on-call coverage on a rotating basis with the other medical oncology staff.
- Teach, mentor and evaluate medical students, residents, fellows and other learners in a variety of settings.
- Participate in scholarly activities derived primarily from clinical and educational activities.

Required Qualifications
Education: BC/BE in Internal Medicine or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Work Experience: Oncology inpatient service and outpatient clinic. Experience with research and grant writing.
