General Information:
Facilities Management is accepting applications for the position of Assistant Burner Shop Supervisor. This position is responsible for skilled and effective supervision, operation, maintenance, repair, inspection, and rebuilding of small packaged unit boilers and heating water systems. Competitive candidates must possess proficient computer skills, be familiar with DEQ permitting regulations, have successful supervisory skills of employees, extensive knowledge of all aspects of repair and maintenance procedures to boilers, pumps, valves, controls, and 3-phase electric motors.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Inspects and repairs boilers, hot water heaters, and related heating equipment to meet building requirements.
- Responds to emergencies and routine work orders in a timely manner to ensure continuous operations. Keeps the supervisor advised of all problems with equipment and systems.
- Perform boiler analysis and testing to determine efficiencies and malfunctions.
- Ensures boilers meet factory minimum requirements and normal fuel consumption.
- Provides effective supervision of employees during the supervisor's absence.
- Objectives for employees are clear, well communicated, and relate to the goals and objectives of the department.
- Provides information to the supervisor on equipment upgrades.
- Employee may be required to temporarily work another shift based on business need.
- This position requires rotating on-call responsibilities.
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:
- Working knowledge of applicable safety rules, regulations, and procedures
- Working skills to include: electronic submission of tuning reports, emission calculations, use of hand tools, power tools, and combustion analyzers
- Mechanical abilities to include: maintain and repair boilers and related equipment, troubleshoot and diagnose a variety of mechanical problems, and troubleshoot electronic components
- Ability to read and interpret regulations, blueprints, gauges, recorders, and monitoring equipment
- Perform complex record-keeping tasks to include Title V Air Permit documentation for submission to DEQ/EPA
- Valid driver's license
