Business Systems Analyst
The Business Analyst is responsible for a full range of activities which ensure the operational effectiveness and excellence of the business unit. The Business Analyst will design and document workflow and make appropriate recommendations that will positively impact operational effectiveness. The Business Analyst will be a Project Manager and lead a number of key projects for the business unit. The Business Analyst will be the functional expert on the Ellucian Banner Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software and provide support through report writing and upgrade planning. This individual will be a primary point of contact between the business unit and Information Technology / Banner Programmer Analyst. The Business Systems Analyst will report directly to the Senior Business Systems Analyst/Supervisor of the Enterprise Applications & Databases subunit of Information Technology.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Individuals must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation, using some other combination of skills and abilities: Excellent communication skills, including the ability to translate technical information to functional users. Proven project management and leadership skills, including the ability to gather clear business requirements. Proven ability to develop, document and maintain operational policies and procedures, including designing and documenting detailed process flows, and the development of operational performance and quality metric standards and reports. Must be customer focused, relationship building, and a champion for change. Demonstrated knowledge of SQL and PL/SQL syntaxes. Knowledge of database concepts including entity relationship diagrams, data flows, and data normalization. Advanced skills in Microsoft Office applications, specifically Word, Excel and Outlook. Knowledge of e-mail/scheduling software applications. Experience with working with Enterprise Resource Planning software. Excellent problem solving skills, attention to detail, and a team player. Ability to stand and/or sit and continuously perform essential job. Ability to work longer hours, after hours, weekends, occasional travel, and on holidays if and when it becomes necessary.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Information Systems or equivalent, from an accredited academic institution, a minimum of two year’s experience in a similar position, or an equivalent combination of academic and work experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Programming with PL/SQL. Knowledge of project planning software. Knowledge and/or experience with Ellucian Banner and associated products.
