Café Assistant(s) - Cape Cod Community College
GENERAL STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
The Cafe Assistant plays a key role in supporting Aviation by providing a welcoming, safe, and healthy environment for students, staff, and visitors at the Plymouth Aviation Training Center at Plymouth Municipal Airport. This position combines excellent customer service and hospitality with responsibilities in café operations, food distribution, tracking assistance, and departmental support. This is a part-time in person position (up to 18 hours/week) with hours between 6:00 am - 7:30 pm, Monday through Thursday with morning and evening shifts available.
EXAMPLES OF DUTIES:
- Ability to operate and maintain espresso machine and associated equipment.
- Serve coffee, tea, and light refreshments in the Café, ensuring prompt, courteous, and safe service.
- Assist with student food activities in the Plymouth Aviation location, including set-up, organization, and respectful customer service during events.
- Greet and check in students, faculty, staff, and visitors, maintaining a professional and welcoming atmosphere.
- Support aviation events and programs through set-up, on-site assistance, and occasional tabling or outreach.
- Monitor café areas to ensure cleanliness, orderliness, and adherence to safety standards.
- Enforce applicable department and college policies respectfully and consistently.
- Perform clerical tasks such as ordering, responding to departmental emails, and data entry.
- Track and maintain inventory of café supplies and food distribution items.
- Report facilities or equipment issues promptly and assist with general upkeep of café areas.
- Follow established emergency response protocols and complete required incident documentation.
- Attend scheduled aviation team meetings, department trainings, and compliance briefings.
- Carry out additional duties as assigned in support of Aviation.
Job Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High School Diploma or GED.
- One year of experience in customer service, hospitality, or a related setting preferred.
- Effective communication and organizational skills with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the public.
- Strong time management skills with the ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively.
- Demonstrated clerical and computer skills, including familiarity with MS Office.
- Ability to lift and move supplies related to café operations and food distribution.
- Current CPR/AED certification or willingness and ability to obtain (training may be offered by department).
- Flexibility to work varied hours, including occasional evenings and weekends.
- Unrestricted authorization to work in the United States.

Additional Information:
COMPENSATION: $20.00 per hour for up to 18 hours per week. Part-time, non-benefited, non-unit position.
