We are searching for an experienced Campus Safety Lieutenant (R00831) at our Goldsmith Campus - Westchester campus.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Director of Campus Safety, the Lieutenant will provide for the safety and protection of life and property within the college community. Directs and manages daily operations of the Campus Safety Sergeants and Officers on all shifts. Assists with administrative functions, Issues instructions, gives deployment orders, manages special events. Will work an appropriate schedule based on operational needs of the department. Assumes command in the absence of the Director of Campus Safety & Security.
CORE DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties Include overseeing investigations, reviewing incidents, assigning tasks, developing plans, deployments and technology that improves emergency preparedness, asset protection, criminal deterrence, reduced liability measures, staff development and resource management. Reviews, develops, implements and recommends security training programs, policies, procedures, investigations and drills. Addresses complaints and resolves problems. Works with various software programs that include access control, cameras, visitor management system, emergency mass notification, campus wide intercom and fire life safety systems.
Set goals to measure success and stay up to date with the latest laws and methods within safety and security. Assist in the management of the Clery Act with compilations of daily crime reports. Interacts with external contacts such as Federal, state and local law enforcements agencies as well as other local and private entities.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
Strong written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of applicable college related Federal and State laws. Associates degree, two years of college, trade school, or equivalent education; five years minimum experience in a public or private security environment required. Bachelor's degree highly preferred, campus security experience is a plus; Any candidates that possess a combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, technical skill sets and abilities also will be considered. Must possess a state guard card, exposed firearm, pepper spray, baton and handcuff permits. SB 1626 certification Ability to think and act quickly in emergency situations with good judgment. Must
PREFERRED SKILLS and EXPERIENCE:
Thorough knowledge of current California state laws, city ordinances, Clery Act, and college security rules and regulations. Knowledge of how to obtain crime stats and ability to learn basic forensic science as it applies to the collection and preservation of evidence.
FLSA Status: Exempt
Compensation Type: Annual Salary
Salary Range: 77,341.00 - 94,244.00
