Shiftwork: Applicants must be willing and able to work rotating shifts, including evenings, weekends and holidays.

Duties Summary

Responsible for supervising the University security force, through subordinate supervisors in charge of assigned watches, in the enforcement of pertinent laws, rules, and regulations for the protection and security of personnel and property of the University of Hawaii campuses, including off-campus facilities, and to detect and prevent attempts by persons to violate the law. Performs the duties of a supervisor in planning, developing and making recommendations regarding policy and procedural matters pertaining to the security of the University of Hawaii campuses; reviewing operational procedures and implementing changes; updating and/or preparing new/special orders, instructions, and memoranda affecting the overall operations of campus security, and coordinating with university administrators to provide off-duty security personnel to perform special duty; and performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualification Requirements

To qualify, applicants must meet all of the following requirements:

Specialized Experience: Two (2) years of progressively responsible work experience in the enforcement of security laws, rules and regulations pertaining to the protection of personnel and property.

Supervisory Experience: One (1) year of supervisory work experience which included: 1) planning, organizing, scheduling, and directing the work of others; 2) assigning and reviewing their work; 3) advising them on difficult work problems; 4) training and developing subordinates; and 5) evaluating their work performance.

Guard License: Applicants must possess a current, valid State of Hawaii Security Guard License at the time of appointment.

Driver's License:Applicants must possess a valid driver's license at the time of appointment.

Substitutions Allowed: Relevant substitutions as described in the Minimum Qualification Requirements, will apply.

Certification: All applicants must obtain valid First Aid and Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificates or equivalent within six (6) months from the date of employment.
