ORGANIZATIONAL RELATIONSHIPS
A. The Campus Store Assistant I reports directly to the Campus Store Manager.
B. The Campus Store Assistant I coordinates most closely with Academic Affairs, Workforce Solutions, Continuing Education, and Registration staff.
C. The Campus Store Assistant I works closely with publishing companies, clothing companies,
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Responsible for the opening and closing of the store.
- Assist with ordering textbooks and supplies.
- Assist with the receiving and unpacking of merchandise.
- Responsible for operating the point-of-sale system.
- Assist with returning books to publishers for credit.
- Process invoices and credit memos.
- Address and resolve customer complaints effectively.
- Process online bookstore orders.
- Assist with store inventory.
- Arrange supplies and place textbooks on appropriate shelves.
- Complete other tasks as requested by the store manager.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
High School diploma required; Associate degree preferred. 3-5 years related experience, preferably in a retail setting or an equivalent combination of experience and training that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities for this position.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
Ability to communicate with tact and courtesy while building positive relationships with students, faculty, staff, publishers, vendors, and the general public. Ability to work under pressure and make minor decisions in accordance with established policies and procedures. Proficient in operating and maintaining a computerized inventory and ordering system. Working knowledge of standard office software applications. Ability to lift cartons of textbooks and supplies weighing up to 40lbs.
WORKING ENVIRONMENT
Normal store environment that may include standing, lifting of cartons, and displaying new merchandise. Must be able to work flexible hours with some evenings and weekends.
