Canada Excellence Research Chair in Energy and Transitions at UQTR
L’Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières (UQTR) is seeking applications for the Canada Excellence Research Chairs (CERC) 2025 competition on the theme of energy and transitions, including associated disciplines.
UQTR is a leader in energy transition technologies, focusing on the development and deployment of technologies for renewable energy production and storage, as well as bio-sourced products. It also emphasizes intelligent manufacturing and energy optimization.
The successful candidate will contribute to the dynamism, consolidation, and development of research within an intersectoral ecosystem, collaborating with institutions such as the Institut de recherche sur l’hydrogène (IRH), the Institut d’innovations en écomatériaux, écoproduits et écoénergies à base de biomasse (I2E3), the Unité mixte de recherche Institut national de la recherche scientifique-UQTR (UMR INRS-UQTR), and the Centre national intégré du manufacturier intelligent (CNIMI).
Research programs include fundamental studies and technology development in renewable energies and hydrogen, with axes such as hydrogen production, storage, intelligent networks, mobility, and innovative materials for IRH; bioeconomy and circular economy for I2E3; energy storage, green fuels, and industrial decarbonization for UMR INRS-UQTR; and digital transition for manufacturers at CNIMI.
The candidate must demonstrate the ability to lead a high-level academic team and maintain strong partnerships. Research must align with UQTR’s strategic research plan, focusing on areas like renewable energy technologies, regional energy ecosystems, intelligent energy optimization for manufacturing, and CO2 capture and valorization.
The CERC program aims to attract top researchers to enhance Canada’s competitiveness. Chairs are awarded for eight years with annual funding of $500,000 or $1 million.

Requirements: A Ph.D. in a relevant field, with the rank of full professor or on track for tenure. French knowledge is an asset.

Salary: Determined by the UQTR professors’ collective agreement, with possible annual premium up to 20%.
