Cancer Cell Lab Technician (Part-Time)

Essential Functions

• Cell Line Management: Perform routine maintenance of cancer cell lines, including media preparation, subculturing (passaging), cryopreservation, and monitoring for contamination (e.g., Mycoplasma).
• Experimental Support: Assist in oncology-based assays such as cell proliferation, apoptosis, and migration assays.
• Instrumentation: Conduct routine maintenance and troubleshooting of lab equipment, including CO2 incubators, biological safety cabinets (BSC), and automated cell counters.
• Documentation: Ensure all lab notebooks, cell lineage logs, and protocol variations are meticulously maintained for reproducibility.
• Protocol Development: Develop and update SOPs for cell-based assays and instructional manuals for student researchers.
• Availability: Must be available to work 15 – 20 hours per week.

Required Qualifications

• BS degree in Biotechnology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, or a related life science.
• Technical Expertise: Experience with aseptic technique, mammalian cell line maintenance, fluorescence microscopy, Flow Cytometry, and Western Blotting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong scientific data analysis and computer skills
• Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills.
• Self-motivated and capable of working both independently and within a collaborative research team.
