Job Summary:
Facilities Construction Services is the university's in-house provider for small projects including renovations, cabinetry, shelving, accommodating new equipment or electrical and mechanical upgrades, signage, flooring, and correcting space deficiencies. This work is done by skilled trades personnel to professional journeyman standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Performs carpentry work including custom cabinet making, countertops, shelving, wood and metal doors, wood and metal stud walls.
- Installs wall coverings, floor coverings, cove base, ceiling tiles and grid, and bathroom partitions.
- Installs name plates, signage, decals, frosting, pictures, shelving, white boards, bulletin boards, electronic displays, and various dispensers. Assembles desks, furniture, and cabinetry.
- Repairs and corrects cosmetic and functional issues with desks, chairs, cabinets, and various furniture. Repairs and makes adjustments to doors, windows, and window shades. Repairs damage to walls, ceilings and floors.
- Prepares cost opinions for customers as needed. Orders materials for work and coordinates with vendors.
- Provides backup support for Facilities Building Zone Staff, to assist with work requests in campus buildings.
- Assists departments with unpacking, moving, and relocating office furniture. Assists with unpacking, moving, and relocating laboratory equipment.
- Performs work on both the Anschutz Medical Campus and the Denver Campus, but reports primarily to the Anschutz Campus.
- Assists with campus special events and emergency response.
Work Location:
On site – this role is expected to work on site and is located in Aurora, Colorado. This position will perform work on both the Anschutz Medical Campus in Aurora and the Denver Campus, but will report primarily to the Anschutz Campus.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications:
- Four years of experience working in commercial or residential carpentry.
Substitution: Appropriate education or successful completion of a formalized apprenticeship program can substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Commercial building carpentry work experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Experience repairing and installing building frameworks and structure-such as doorframes, stairways, interior and exterior partitions, drywalls, doors, sidings, and cabinets
- Able to follow blueprints and building plans to meet the need of customers
- Experience working with concrete forming systems
- Demonstrates strong customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate clearly and accurately, both orally and written.
- Ability to multi-task and prioritize work and levels of assistance needed.
- Strong ability to work well under pressure while maintaining a positive attitude.
- Physical ability that meets the Physical Requirements Assessments for the position.
- Demonstrates strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish rapport with persons of diverse backgrounds.

- Must be willing and able to walk on uneven surfaces and climb on scaffolds/ladders.
- Must be willing to wear a respirator when required by work conditions.

Anticipated Pay Range:
The starting salary range (or hiring range) for this position has been established as HIRING RANGE $4,238 – 4,662 per month ($50,856 – 55,944 per year).
