Description of Work:
The Office of Student Advocacy and Support seeks qualified applicants for the position of Case Manager. Under the general direction of the Assistant Director of Student Advocacy and Support, the Case Manager serves as the nexus of information and integration for the campus' response to students experiencing varying degrees of need and/or distress. The incumbent is readily accessible to students, staff, faculty, parents, and family members (when applicable) who are concerned about a distressed student. The Case Manager works closely with key offices to identify and intervene as early as possible with students potentially experiencing basic need insecurities, distress, or other challenges who would benefit from advocacy and support services.
The Case Manager assists in developing training for faculty and staff, as well as providing general information about Student Advocacy and Support during orientation and other key events. The incumbent works directly with students referred by their assigned liaison area (residential undergraduates, non-residential undergraduates, or graduate and international students) to help resolve complex situations and advocate on their behalf, fielding calls, emails, and referrals, and coordinates responses and services for individual students. Additionally, the incumbent researches national best practices and participates as a member of the university's Behavioral Intervention Team. The Case Manager also supports the activities, programs, and services associated with the functions of the Student Advocacy and Support Office.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in related area and/or equivalent experience/training. Three years demonstrated experience in crisis management, crisis intervention, and case management with college students or emerging adults. Broad knowledge of health care, mental health care, crisis management, and services. Experience in prevention, psycho-educational, and educational outreach and programming for students, faculty, staff, and parents/family members. Experience initiating and coordinating services for individual's and connecting them to comprehensive programs to help them succeed as well as advocate on their behalf in extenuating circumstances and assist them in understanding and accessing resources available to them. Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary organizational setting.
Demonstrated experience developing, coordinating and delivering training and development opportunities to the community. Demonstrated awareness and understanding of multiple facets of diversity: cultural, ethnic, racial, religious, gender, educational, age, sexual orientation, linguistic, professional, and other identities. Must have outstanding project management skills and the ability to move projects forward. Strong interpersonal, cross-cultural communication, organizational and problem-solving skills. Experience working in an environment requiring significant collaboration, including bridge-building with different groups and stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications:
Master's degree in student affairs, student development, mental-health related field, or other related degree. Experience in the higher education environment. Working knowledge of mental health, student development, Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) best practices, higher education law, FERPA, and electronic record-keeping systems.
Posted Salary: $48,000/yr. minimum
