Job Duties:
The College of Arts, Humanities and Social Science at the University of Wisconsin-La Crosse is seeking applicants for the Dean’s position with a start date of July 1, 2026.
Applications received prior to the first review date will receive full consideration, and the search will continue on a rolling basis until the position is filled.
Under general supervision of the provost, the dean’s primary responsibilities include general administration of all college programs and the oversight of curricular, budgetary, assessment, program and faculty development. The Dean is responsible for providing the overall vision and leadership for the college, with a clear focus on the liberal arts, innovation, inter- and cross-disciplinary activities, undergraduate, graduate, and general education. In addition, the Dean is expected to work smoothly with shared governance and collaboratively with the other college deans while advocating for the needs of the college. Finally, the Dean is expected to engage with the community and participate in fundraising.
The College of Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities (CASSH) is a vibrant academic community bringing together the strengths of the liberal arts, innovative interdisciplinary programs, and the creative energy of the School of Visual and Performing Arts. The College actively supports the university’s General Education Program and offers a robust number of undergraduate degrees and three graduate programs. Compensation: $150,000 / year
Required Qualifications:
- An earned doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited university.
- A proven record of teaching and scholarship sufficient to qualify for appointment at the rank of full professor with tenure in one of the departments of the college
- A strong record of progressively responsible administrative and management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- A commitment to ethical, honest, open, and transparent leadership practices.
- Experience building relationships across the university and with alumni, local partners, and donors.
- Knowledge of, and experience with, international students and international programs.
- Experience in strategic planning activities.
- Experience with academic program assessment.
- Demonstrated record of leadership resulting in continuing improvement and innovation.
- Demonstrated commitment to faculty and staff professional development.
