Job Summary
The University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health seeks a visionary and collaborative leader to serve as Chair of the Department of Medical Physics. The Chair will provide strategic, academic, and administrative leadership across the department's research, education, clinical, and service missions.
Key Job Responsibilities
- Develop and steward departmental budgets and resources aligned with priorities.
- Mentor and retain faculty and staff; foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, and belonging.
- Build and sustain partnerships with clinical departments, industry, alumni, and donors.
- Lead thoughtful faculty recruitment with an emphasis on building a broadly representative, collaborative, and sustainable academic workforce that supports excellence in research, education, mentorship, and service across career stages and disciplines.
- Lead and manage all departmental operations, including research, graduate education, residency training, clinical physics services, and entrepreneurship initiatives.
- Represent the department to the School, university, professional organizations, and the broader medical physics community.
- Advance affiliated clinical programs and residency education, maintaining a strong professional culture that recognizes clinical physics as a valued and integral dimension of the department's mission
- Maintain an active scholarly presence consistent with the candidate's expertise
