Job Description

The University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry seeks to fill the position of department chair of Pediatric Dentistry and coexisting faculty appointment at the rank of Assistant/Associate/Full Clinical Professor (non-tenure) or Assistant/Associate/Professor (tenured/tenure track).

Specific responsibilities include:

• Accountability and fiscal responsibility for daily operations.
• Mentorship of faculty and staff, and support for scholarship/research.
• Supervision of departmental activities, including curriculum, clinical operations, and patient care.
• Responsibility for the didactic component of the curriculum, including developing syllabi, lectures, examinations, and evaluating student progress.
• Management of scheduling, staffing, workloads, and assignments.
• Compliance with CoDA standards and relevant policies.
• Participation in meetings and communication with stakeholders.
• Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a certificate from a CODA-accredited Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry, be board certified, and hold a DDS/DMD or equivalent with eligibility for Missouri Dental Faculty licensure (https://pr.mo.gov/dental.asp).

For tenure-eligible appointments, candidates should have teaching experience, demonstrated potential for research and scholarly activity, and service to the profession.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Rank and salary are commensurate with qualifications and experience. This is a 12-month, full-time faculty appointment with benefits. One day per week may be reserved for private practice or other activities.
