Lecturer
Position Overview
The College of Dentistry is accepting applications for four part-time Lecturers to design, develop and deliver lectures on the basic principles of endocrinology, cardiovascular physiology, respiration and renal physiology, as well as speech and language in the context of dentistry, to second-year dental students as part of their didactic curriculum.
This will include three-five, depending on the topic, two-hour lectures that cover the basics concepts related to each of the above organ systems. In addition to preparing and delivering lectures, the position will also require the development of exam questions that will be used to assess student performance in the course.
The hired individuals will work closely with the course director to ensure comprehensive coverage of the main topics in endocrinology, cardiovascular physiology, respiration and renal physiology, as well as speech and language. The Lecturers will need to make time available to answer student questions regarding delivered course content, as well as be available to respond to student emails.

Education and Experience Requirements
Required
- Applicants should have a PhD degree.
- Have previous experience in a lecture-based setting and delivering content on the science of physiology to dental students.
- Previously been involved in topic-related research, including publications in scientific journals and/or development of book chapters.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong interpersonal skills
- A commitment to or demonstrated efforts in teaching that reflect Ohio State’s Mission, Vision and Values

The College
Our college is the first state-supported dental school in Ohio and consists of eleven academic divisions representing all major dental specialties.
The divisions offer both patient care services and academic programs, allowing dentists to train as specialists. Also, our Outreach and Engagement activities include over 60 active programs and more than 42 extra mural sites, which continue to expand.
The College of Dentistry provides comprehensive patient care in an unparalleled learning environment with internationally recognized faculty and a supportive network of alumni and friends. In addition, our research programs provide students another dimension beyond classroom and clinical education. Students and faculty members are able to participate in both clinical and laboratory research in areas such as dental materials science, oral and maxillofacial pathology, hard tissue biology, microbiology, neuroscience, and immunology.
The Division
Currently, the division consists of more than 28 individuals, including nine (9) faculty members as well as postdoctoral associates, graduate students, research assistants, research associates, research technicians and supporting staff. Together, the members of the division have the objective of providing the highest caliber academic environment for professional dental students, graduate students and postdoctoral associates so that they may be able to conduct research at the forefront of craniofacial and cell sciences. This educational mission is achieved through instruction in integrated courses in molecular biology, biochemistry, physiology, immunology and microbiology.
All faculty members within the division are engaged in active research programs and are funded by a variety of organizations, including the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the National Science Foundation. Faculty also take pride in providing service to a large and diverse number of local and national committees and professional organizations. Highlights include active roles on multiple study sections at NIH, participation on the editorial boards of several high-profile scientific journals, serving as officers of scientific societies, and numerous scientific presentations throughout the world.
