Chair of the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development
Job Summary
Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for an administrative faculty position as a tenured Professor and Chair of the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development in the College of Computing and Software Engineering with a preferred start date of July 1, 2026. This is a twelve-month contracted position. This position is for work to be performed in the state of Georgia.
Responsibilities
- Provide dynamic, effective leadership to the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development (SWEGD)
- Boost the department's reputation and visibility, locally and nationally
- Promote academic excellence, foster a strong research environment, and the procurement of external funding
- Mentor and advise faculty and students, enhancing research activities and academic achievements
- Ensure the effective and efficient offering of college-wide courses
- Improve Student Success in the First Year Experience Program
- Strategically manage enrollment growth and program development in the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development
- Improve curriculum, retention, and graduation rates in Software Engineering and Game Design and Development programs
- Advocate for the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development faculty and programs, ensuring their needs and goals are effectively represented
Teaching assignments will be based on earned degrees and SACSCOC Faculty Credentials Guidelines.
Required Qualifications
- A terminal degree, or the foreign equivalent, in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Game Design and Development, Human-Computer Design and Development, Computing or a related discipline with an academic background and appropriate credentials to be a tenured Professor in the Department of Software Engineering and Game Development in the College of Computing and Software Engineering at Kennesaw State University is required at the time of hire.
- Demonstrated strong commitment to the Computing disciplines and a substantive record of scholarship and Computing research leading to the procurement of external funding
- Evidence of effective leadership experience
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to work productively with faculty and students
- Experience mentoring and advising early career faculty, undergraduate and graduate students in research activities
Preferred Qualifications
- An ability to successfully develop and implement a strategic vision
- A demonstrated ability to engage effectively with external business and professional communities, Advisory Board, and funding agencies
- A working knowledge of ABET accreditation
