Successful candidates should have a demonstrated ability to build a world-class research programme related to CityUHK’s strategic research areas, plus a commitment to education and student mentorship. Candidates must possess a doctorate in their respective field by the time of appointment.
Duties
Deliver outstanding teaching and effectively manage undergraduate and postgraduate courses, either individually or as part of a team. The appointee is expected to produce high-quality, impactful research and contribute significantly to the academic community. Responsibilities include conducting excellent research, teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and supervising PhD students. Candidates at the rank of Associate Professor or above are also expected to undertake administrative duties as assigned by the Head of Department.
Requirements
Candidates for Chair Professor should possess strong academic qualifications, substantial relevant experience in higher education, and an internationally recognized record of research and scholarship. They are expected to provide strong academic leadership in the development of teaching and research within the Department, along with effective managerial leadership.
Candidates applying for Professor and Associate Professor positions should possess a PhD, demonstrate relevant teaching experience, and have an extensive record of research publications in top-tier journals. They should show a commitment to quality teaching and be capable of providing research leadership, curriculum development, and postgraduate supervision.
Candidates for Assistant Professor should have a PhD or be near completion, with strong potential to publish in top-tier journals.
Salary and Conditions of Service
Remuneration package will be driven by market competitiveness and individual performance. Excellent fringe benefits include gratuity, leave, medical and dental schemes, and relocation assistance (where applicable). Initial appointment will be made on a fixed-term contract.
