Chemistry Instructor
The Faculty Chemistry Instructor provides high-quality instruction in chemistry courses in support of the College’s academic mission. This position is responsible for teaching, student engagement, academic advising, college service, and professional development as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Instruction supports foundational chemistry curricula and related physical science disciplines.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Instruction
- Teach assigned chemistry courses in accordance with departmental and College standards.
- Prepare syllabi, instructional materials, assessments, and course schedules.
- Employ diverse teaching strategies to accommodate varied learning styles and academic preparation levels.
- Use student engagement strategies to support learning and academic success.
- Provide timely feedback and maintain regular office hours.
- Utilize the College’s learning management system and instructional technologies.
- Provide reasonable accommodations for students with disabilities in accordance with College policy.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance at classes and office hours.
College Service
- Perform instructional service activities including grading, assessment of learning outcomes, and curriculum development.
- Record and report grades and attendance accurately and in a timely manner.
- Refer students to appropriate academic support services as needed.
- Participate in department, division, and College meetings.
- Serve on committees and participate in planning, assessment, and accreditation activities.
- Participate in commencement ceremonies, mentoring, student activities, and College-wide initiatives.
Professional Development
- Participate in professional development activities as outlined in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
- Engage in continuous improvement of teaching practices and student learning outcomes.
- Collaborate with faculty and administration to support program effectiveness and development.
Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Chemistry or Biochemistry; or
- Master’s degree with at least 18 graduate semester hours in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
Preferred Qualifications
- Graduate coursework in Chemistry or Biochemistry.
- Experience teaching college-level chemistry courses.
Additional Information
- Teaching assignments may include day, evening, and online courses.
