Chemistry Instructor
Job Summary
The Chemistry Instructor is a full-time, benefitted, tenure-track, faculty categorized position whose primary responsibility is to provide high-quality instruction across the full spectrum of the chemistry curriculum, from introductory and general chemistry to organic chemistry and specialized labs. The instructor is responsible for ensuring institutional continuity and student success, focusing specifically on bolstering retention and persistence through collaboration with all academic departments, particularly Nursing, Veterinary Technology and Agriculture. In addition to core teaching duties, the instructor will contribute to laboratory safety management, curriculum development and student support initiatives. The position offers opportunities to support or develop offerings in high-growth areas such as biology, physics, mathematics, computer science or agricultural sciences, depending on the candidates expertise. The Chemistry Instructor will be a high-energy collaborator dedicated to helping students excel in the physical sciences and may also engage in vital community and industry partnerships. The position is on the Torrington Campus and may require minimal travel.
Required Qualifications
- Masters degree in Chemistry, or masters degree in a related field with 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught; degree must be from an accredited institution
- One-year teaching experience in discipline at a secondary level or higher
- Current and valid state-issued drivers license
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctoral degree in Chemistry or related field; degree must be from an accredited institution; must have a minimum of 18 graduate hours in the discipline being taught
- Three or more years full-time teaching experience in discipline at secondary level or higher
- Previous instruction experience in higher education
- Background in Chemistry or related field
