CHIL Junior Software Engineer - Research Technical Professional Project - Grade 6
The Civic Health Innovation Labs (CHIL) is a ground-breaking new Centre hosted by the University of Liverpool. It will bring together scientists, engineers, residents and health professionals from different disciplines, organisations and lived experiences to drive an internationally important civic health technology research and innovation cluster in Liverpool City Region. The Centre is a civic partnership between the University of Liverpool and local NHS, which allows academics, NHS and industry partners to co-locate, under a cooperative model, to use data to drive innovation and service change.
The Secure Data Environment Team (SDE) Team Development Hub (see sdertp.org) is a collaborative project between The Universities of Manchester and Liverpool; and Lancashire Teaching Hospital NHS Trust, funded by the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC). The project aims to build capacity and capability of the Research Technical Professionals (RTPs) who underpin the creation of the UK’s Secure Data Environments (SDEs) by:
- Directly increasing capacity through recruitment of RTPs into existing teams developing SDEs in the Northwest of England.
- Supporting the career development of RTPs through the creation of a competency framework. We are working with the SDE community to define the key competencies that should be attained at different stages of an RTP’s career in secure data environments.
- Supporting the training of RTPs by developing a curriculum that highlights training and sources of experience that can be used to achieve career progression against the competency framework.
- Facilitating direct training and certification of new and existing RTPs that work on the creation of secure data environments.
- Developing an online resource to share our outputs and experience with the wider SDE community.
You will be enthusiastic about building a Research Technical Professional skillset with a desire to improve health outcomes. Key technologies include cloud based Secure Data Environments (SDEs) and Trusted Research Environments (TREs), SQL and Python.
