Position: The College of Health Professions invites applications for a tenure-track, 9-month Assistant Professor position in the Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology and in affiliation with the Autism Studies PhD program beginning August 2026. Faculty with expertise in autism are encouraged to apply.
Qualifications: Applicants should have a doctoral degree in speech-language pathology or a related field. ABD applications will be considered with initial appointment at the Instructor rank; all degree requirements must be completed by February 28, 2027. Candidates should have a commitment to working across programs, disciplines, and cultures. Candidates with ASHA CCC-SLP certification and current (or eligibility for) Maryland licensure will be prioritized.
Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: (1) Teaching: Research-active instructors teach 6 course units over a 9-month academic year, providing high-quality instruction at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and advising and mentoring students; (2) Scholarship: Development of a focused area of research that includes peer-reviewed publications, professional presentations, grant funding, and involvement in scholarly projects with students; and (3) Service: Active service participation at the department, college, university, community, and professional levels.
The Department: The Department of Speech-Language Pathology & Audiology has 19 full-time faculty teaching nearly 150 undergraduate students, over 100 master’s students, and over 60 students in an Audiology clinical doctorate program. The College also hosts a unique interdisciplinary Autism Studies PhD program.
