Civil Engineering Assistant Professor in Structural Engineering
Job Details
Structural Engineering: Candidates from all fields of structural engineering are encouraged to apply. Candidates with expertise in innovative and smart materials for infrastructure/structural applications, resilient structures and materials, the integration of AI/ML in structural optimization, digital twin technology, advanced computational mechanics, and additive manufacturing in structural engineering are of particular interest.
The successful candidate is expected to develop a strong research program, contribute to existing and developing new teaching and training programs at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and provide service to the department, the school, and the university.
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a doctoral degree in civil engineering, structural engineering, or a closely related discipline. The ideal candidate will have a strong track record of scholarly productivity and external research support, as well as excellent communication skills, leadership abilities, and the capacity to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment.

Civil and Environmental Engineering at Rutgers-New Brunswick is a premier engineering program featuring state-of-the-art laboratories, ABET accreditation, and strong ties to state and regional agencies and industry. The department conducts research across a range of focused areas that encompass the field of civil and environmental engineering, including sustainable and smart infrastructure, new geotechnical infrastructure systems, construction automation, high-performance building systems, and environmental sustainability and impact analyses.
