Position Description

Job Title: Adjunct Faculty 

Department: Counseling Department      

Reports To: Donna Sheperis , Department Chair   

Location:  Mountain View Campus, remote, in person, or hybrid           

Employment Status: Part-time

Date: Ongoing as needed to meet Counseling Department demands

Summary

The PAU Department of Counseling is excited to search for an Adjunct Facultyto support our M.A. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling program. The selected candidate will be required to demonstrate teaching experiences that contribute to the specialization area, potentially including teaching and supervision experiences in clinical practice courses (practicum and internship) based on the courses contracted to teach. The selected candidate will also need to demonstrate the ability to enhance the Counselor Education Programs' mission to integrate advocacy, social justice, cultural competence, and ethical practice into the preparation of counseling professionals. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Teaching 
  2. Teach agreed upon units 
  3. Teach virtual synchronous courses and/or in-person courses as assigned (e.g. on campus weekly courses; clinical week intensive residencies
  4. Meet with students outside of class as needed for support
  5. Adjunct faculty are expected to attend quarterly meetings
  6. Adjunct faculty are expected to attend course lead orientation meetings
  7. Other duties as assigned (including adhering to course structure and teaching expectations of program and course lead)

Required Qualifications:

  • Doctoral or Master’s degree in Counselor Education and Supervision ore related fields preferably from a CACREP-accredited program;
  • Professional identity as a counselor and a counselor educator demonstrated by affiliation with relevant professional counseling associations, including the American Counseling Association and Association for Counselor Education and Supervision;
  • License or license eligible as a Mental Health Counselor or Marriage, Family, Child Counselor or related counseling discipline.;
  • Potential for excellence in teaching in virtual synchronized and residential formats;
  • Demonstrated clinical knowledge and skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate with students both face-to-face, and connecting online through email, video conferencing, and chat;
  • Evidence of inclusive excellence, as well as training and experience with multicultural competence in counseling;
  • Demonstrated commitment in facilitating conversations related to culture, power, and oppression and increasing cultural sensitivity in students.
