Job Summary

The School of Nursing at The University of Texas at Tyler invites applicants to apply for a full-time non-tenure-track, clinical assistant / associate professor faculty position at rank and salary commensurate with experience. The 9-month contract includes the option to work in summer as the nursing program is offered year-round. Positions are available at our Tyler campus. Review of applications will begin immediately, and the positions will remain open until filled.

Key Responsibilities

  • Primary teaching responsibilities in a nationally accredited graduate nursing program
  • Maintaining active PMHNP practice in congruence with UT Tyler's policies
  • Mentoring and advising students
  • Participating in School and University service and activities
  • Maintain regular on-campus presence.
  • Attend departmental meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Doctorate in Nursing in a nationally accredited graduate nursing program
  • PMHNP certification with at least two (2) years of experience as a PMHNP
  • Licensure in Texas
  • Evidence of program of scholarship

Preferred Qualifications

  • Graduate teaching experience

Nursing Program

The highly respected accelerated BSN program enrolls over 1,500 nursing students each semester across three campuses located in Tyler, Longview, and Palestine, Texas. On-line ADN-BSN and RN-BSN tracks provide current associate degree nursing students and associate degree prepared registered nurses opportunity to earn a BSN from an accredited, respected program. UT Tyler nursing programs are nationally ranked each year by US News & World Report. We offer the Master of Science (MSN) -- Nursing Administration; MSN -- Nursing Education; MSN -- Informatics, Quality & Safety; MSN-- Family Nurse Practitioner and MSN -- Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. Post bachelor's and post master's certificates are available in each of these specialty areas along with an Adult Geriatric Acute Care Nurse practitioner certificate. Doctoral programs include a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Nursing, Doctorate in Nursing Practice (DNP), and DNP-Nurse Anesthesia degree. Additional Information

The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position is security-sensitive and subject to Texas Education Code Section 51.215, which authorizes the employer to obtain criminal history record information.
