Clinical Data Support Specialist

Under the general supervision of the Clinical Practice Data Analyst Manager, this position assists with the interpretation of data sets for improvement in clinical workflow. This position assists in the development of data and reporting requirements by gathering information and validating data. This position will function as part of the Quality Improvement and Clinical Analytics team to validate and report data that will be used for regulatory reporting, operational monitoring, and quality improvement. They will work with the informatics team to make sure all upgrades and implementations will coincide with our current and future clinical data report goals.

Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Assists in data validation to ensure accuracy/completeness of data requested.
  2. Works with department to determine and understand the full scope of the request including but not limited to workflow, documentation practices and usage.
  3. Assists in designing dashboards using data that is provided by TW. This position will provide easy customer access to clinical information needed for past and future clinical data. This data will support the health system's analysis, planning, and improvement needs.
  4. Assists the report writer with understanding the data request by providing detailed documentation outlining the requested data and explaining any variation of verbiage between the user-side of the EHR and the database-side.
  5. Assists in improvement of clinical practice through the use of technology and data.
  6. Works with the Director of Quality Improvement and Clinical Analytics in developing the structure to support performance improvement activities within clinical departments and clinical support entities to promote efficient, effective, and equitable patient care.
  7. Assists in developing workflows and reporting for regulatory reporting measures and to enhance patient care in conjunction with the Population Health Management and the Quality Improvement and Clinical Analytics Office as directed.
  8. Assists with investigating report questions/issues.

Qualifications

  1. High school diploma or equivalent.
  2. Any one or any combination totaling one (1) year (12 months) from the following categories:
    1. College coursework which includes Information Technology (IT), IT Management, Programming, IT systems, or a closely related discipline, as measured by the following conversion table or its proportional equivalent:
      1. 30 semester hours equals one (1) year (12 months)
      2. Associate's Degree (60 semester hours) equals eighteen months (18 months)
      3. 90 semester hours equals two (2) years (24 months)
      4. Bachelor's Degree (120 semester hours) equals three (3) years (36 months)
    2. Work experience in IT-related functions such as hardware/software support, programming, network design, network engineering, IT systems integration, or closely related field.
  3. 2 years experience working in an electronic health record.
