SUMMARY
The Clinical Instructor/Clinic Director in Speech-Language Pathology provides leadership and oversight of the Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders, including client services, clinical education of graduate students, and supervision of clinical faculty. The successful candidate will also contribute to the academic mission of the university through teaching undergraduate coursework and participation in departmental, college, and university service.

Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
- Eligibility for Texas licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
Responsibilities
This position is responsible for the clinical education of graduate students in speech-language pathology and the administration of the Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders. The individual in this role will also teach undergraduate coursework in the Communication Sciences and Disorders program.
Job duties include, but are not limited to:
- Providing direct clinical supervision and instruction to graduate students enrolled in the speech-language pathology program.
- Managing daily operations of the Stanley Center for Speech and Language Disorders, including scheduling and assignment of clients to graduate clinicians and supervisors.
- Ensuring compliance with ASHA standards, HIPAA, FERPA, and university policies governing clinical practice.
- Coordinating and evaluating the clinical education component of the graduate program in collaboration with academic faculty.
- Teaching assigned undergraduate courses in Communication Sciences and Disorders, which may include speech and language development, language disorders, or literacy and the SLP.
- Participating in departmental, college, and university service activities.
- Maintaining ASHA certification and Texas state licensure in Speech-Language Pathology.
- Performing other duties as assigned.
JOB DESCRIPTION
This is a part-time or full-time, non-tenure track faculty position responsible for teaching undergraduate and/or graduate courses while involved in clinical experiences or applied programs. Works under limited supervision, with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Reports to the academic unit head.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in the field in which the individual will be teaching is required. Terminal degree is preferred. Some fields may allow applicable practical experience to substitute for Master’s degree.
Practical experience sufficient to teach at a university level, through teaching or profession, is required. Experience teaching at a university level is preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- Prepares and delivers classes to undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations.
- Provides services to the university and the profession.
- May conduct supplemental instructional activities such as independent studies, internships, and advising.
NON-ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
- May supervise the work of student and/or graduate assistants.
- May serve on departmental, college, and university committees.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities or be able to explain and demonstrate that the individual can perform the essential functions of the job, with or without reasonable accommodation.
- Extensive knowledge in the field in which the individual will be teaching.
- Ability to effectively teach undergraduate and/or graduate students.
- Ability to work within a collaborative faculty environment.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written form.
- Ability to work effectively and patiently with students.
