The Office of Fieldwork and Certification, within the College of Human Development, Culture and Media (CHDCM) at Seton Hall University, invites applications for Clinical Intern Supervisors. The Clinical Supervisor of pre-clinical and clinical interns is an important member of the clinical experience triad as an official representative of the university who directly supervises the teacher candidate. The clinical supervisor serves as a liaison between CHDCM and cooperating school personnel. The clinical supervisor aids in the education of teacher candidate by making sure that they are a thoughtful learner, leader, and community member. The Office seeks student-centered individuals who value excellence in teaching and commit to diversity, equity, inclusion, and collaboration.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Attend mandatory training sessions and orientations to meet with candidates prior to the first observation.
- Work with the teacher candidate to design a supervision schedule and inform the teacher candidate and cooperating teacher of planned visits.
- Complete lesson observations and evaluations, using designated online evaluation tools, according to the candidate's clinical level.
- Confer with the cooperating teacher relative to the teacher candidate's work and progress; conduct group conferences with the teacher candidate and cooperating teacher.
- Communicate regularly with the candidate, cooperating teacher, and Office of Fieldwork and Certification.
- Provide mentorship and feedback to the candidate to support their professional competency development.
- Send early notification to the Office of Fieldwork and Certification of any challenges faced by the teacher candidate.
- Provide specific suggestions and feedback about strategies for creating a positive classroom environment, developing classroom management skills, and acknowledging differences in the classroom to include all learners.
- Complete tasks related to role as assigned course section instructor for supervisees, including verifying attendance and entering final grades.
Required Qualifications:
- Master's degree or acquired equivalent job experience
- Minimum of three years of teaching and/or administrative experience
- Experience supervising, consulting or otherwise working in an elementary/secondary school in contact with classroom teachers within the previous two years
- Demonstrated expertise in the field in which he or she is supervising
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite, such as Outlook and Teams, and student success software such as Watermark
- Demonstrated record of teaching excellence and mentorship experience
Salary Range:
- Clinical Experience - $150 per student
- Clinical Practice 1 - $400 per student
- Clinical Practice 2 - $925 per student
