Job Summary

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a 9-month faculty position at the Clinical Lab Instructor in Anatomy & Physiology in the School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University beginning September 1, 2025.

The School of Health and Natural Sciences at Mercy University invites qualified candidates for a full time, 9 month, multiple year track Clinical Lab Instructor of Anatomy & Physiology in the Department of Natural Sciences beginning September 1, 2025

This position primarily focuses on teaching excellence in the undergraduate Anatomy & Physiology laboratories. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to excellence in undergraduate laboratory teaching, impactful service to the University community, and mentoring of undergraduate students. Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated experience with innovative approaches for promoting student success such as: project-based learning (PBL) experiences, curriculum development, encouraging classroom inclusivity, high-impact pedagogical practices, experience with Anatomage Tables, and experience mentoring peer tutors in labs. We seek faculty who prioritize DEI goals, who welcome opportunities to engage with diverse students and colleagues, who incorporate inclusive pedagogical practices into their lab teaching, and who are committed to ensuring that all students succeed. Primary work responsibilities will include:

• Teaching multiple laboratory sections per year of Anatomy & Physiology laboratory courses using an innovative curriculum incorporating Anatomage Tables.
• Working to enhance the curriculum in collaboration with the course coordinators, including: assisting with the design and delivery of curricular materials, supporting the incorporation of data collection sensors, software, and data analysis, and helping to coordinate the lab curriculum with the lecture course
• Working to ensure that the labs are equipped with all necessary supplies and materials to ensure safe and compliant use of the labs
• Performing necessary instructor responsibilities of grading, attendance tracking and reporting, attending training sessions and teaching workshops, submitting academic updates for students, collecting assessment data as required, and meeting with students outside of class
• Working collaboratively with the teaching assistants and laboratory staff to ensure efficient set up and clean-up of laboratories after each session.

Candidates with previous experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS), particularly with BlackBoard and teleconferencing software, particularly Zoom and BlackBoard Collaborate, are preferred.

This is an opportunity to join the School of Health and Natural Sciences with undergraduate programs in biology, clinical laboratory science, communication disorders, exercise science, occupational therapy assistant (AAS degree), and veterinary technology and 4 accredited graduate health professional programs (communication disorders, occupational therapy, physical therapy, and physician assistant studies).

Required Qualifications

• Minimum of a master’s degree in biology or related field with a focus on human anatomy and physiology
• A strong, demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching laboratory courses in anatomy and physiology to a diverse population of undergraduate pre-professional health science/healthcare students
• Prior experience teaching anatomy and physiology laboratory coursework
• Experience in integrating innovative approaches to promoting student success and building inclusive community in the laboratory
• Strong interpersonal, organizational and communication skills
• Experience working collaboratively with faculty from a wide range of disciplines, cultures and academic backgrounds
• Strong computer skills
• Ability to teach at the Dobbs Ferry and Bronx campuses as needed
• Ability to actively participate in university, school, and department meetings
• Ability to complete other duties as assigned

Education Requirements:

Minimum of a master’s degree in biology or related field

Physical/Other Requirements:

• Must be able to push, pull, move or lift up to 50 lbs.
• Must be able to meet all general health requirements for the position as per university policies.
