Part-Time Faculty: Foundations of Movement (Spring 2026)
The School of Education at Syracuse University is looking for an individual to teach DAP 301 Foundations of Movement (3 credits) for the Spring 2026 semester.
Course Description: Foundations of Movement covers Kinesiology and Somatics as they inform dance/movement technique. Emphasis will be placed on application of knowledge to personal practice and pedagogy/coaching.
Qualifications:
- Masters degree in dance, kinesiology or a related field.
- Experience/certification in somatic practice is essential.
- Teaching experience at the college/university level is very desirable.
Responsibilities:
- Develop/update the course syllabus in accordance with SOE standards.
- Ordering in advance books and materials for students in the class to purchase on or before the first day of classes.
- Preparing for classes.
- Holding office hours each week for students in the class and others.
- Grading in a timely manner student assignments and examinations for the course.
- Completing competency assessment reports (if required).
- Turning in mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University standards.
- Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
- Other responsibilities as indicated.
Physical Requirements:
Demonstrate the physical skills required to lead students through the appropriate activity.
