Who are we looking for?

We are seeking a Clinical Research Coordinator to join School of Medicine, Faculty of Health.

The purpose of the Clinical Research Coordinator is to provide high-level research support across several clinical trials. The position will work closely with a multi-disciplinary research team to implement the research studies within the Queensland Children’s Hospital, and may require visits to other sites. The Clinical Research Coordinator will assist the Principal Investigator in the selection and enrolment of participants in clinical trials and will be responsible for the ongoing relationship with the participant’s families/caregivers to ensure the trial protocols are followed. This position will be required to have a thorough understanding of trial protocols and to conduct research as outlined in the protocols and will support the research team in other research related tasks such as ethics, data collection, data management and specimen collection and processing.

The Cough, Asthma and Airways Research Group (CAARG) is an established research group investigating paediatric chronic wet cough, asthma and bronchiectasis. It sits within the School of Medicine and the Australian Centre for Health Services Innovation (AusHSI).

What you need to succeed

  1. Completion of a degree in Biomedical Science, Nursing or a similar discipline with subsequent relevant experience and current registration as a Registered Nurse (if applicable).
  2. Research experience, or ability to quickly gain knowledge, in clinical trials including ethical and compliance considerations, Good Clinical Practice, patient recruitment, data collection and data management.
  3. Excellent interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills, and ability to liaise with families, and internal and external stakeholders to deliver high-quality outcomes.
  4. Well-developed administrative and organisational skills with a proven ability to effectively plan and prioritise tasks with limited direction in a timely manner, and willingness to be flexible in the role.
  5. Well-developed digital literacy skills with demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office products and databases such as REDCap.
  6. Demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity and Indigenous Australian engagement.

To be eligible for appointment to this role, you will possess the following:

Full registration in good standing as a nurse with the Australian Health Professions Regulation Agency (or international equivalent), and additional certification required for ongoing clinical practice or clinical supervision (blue card, CPR, first aid, and full vaccination including an approved COVID19 vaccine) OR other relevant tertiary qualification, registration, if appropriate, and experience in clinical research.
