Job Summary:
The Ozioma Okonkwo Lab, within the Division of Geriatrics and Gerontology in the Department of Medicine, offers a unique opportunity for a Clinical Research Coordinator. This position serves as the primary lead for the day-to-day operations of the REPLENISH study, a project investigating how aerobic fitness and obstructive sleep apnea interact to influence Alzheimer’s disease biomarkers and cognition. In this role, the coordinator performs various technical skills such as taking vitals, conducting balance walk tests and maximal exercise testing while managing all study related data. The coordinator also acts as the main point of contact for every participant, guiding them through their research journey, from initial recruitment and eligibility screening to scheduling and leading study visits while ensuring every individual feels informed and supported. Beyond direct participant interaction, the coordinator handles vital behind the scenes work including managing study logistics, developing training aids, and mentoring students to ensure the team remains organized, the study's scientific integrity is upheld, and the research continues to move forward.
- This position may require some work to be performed in-person, onsite, at a designated campus work location. Some work may be performed remotely, at an offsite, non-campus work location.
- Terminal, 24 month appointment
- This position has the possibility to be extended or converted to an ongoing appointment based on need and/or funding.
- This position has been identified as a position of trust with access to vulnerable populations. The selected candidate will be required to pass an initial caregiver check to be eligible for employment under the Wisconsin Caregiver Law and every four years.
Key Job Responsibilities:
- Schedules logistics, determines workflows, and secures resources for clinical research trials
- Manages research workflow components, collects, prepares, processes, and submits participant data and samples to appropriate entities, adhering to research protocols
- Recruits, screens, selects, determines eligibility and enrolls trial participants, collects more complex information, performs medical assessments, and answers varied questions under supervision of a medically licensed professional. Performs medical assessments after completion of required training/certification, such as collecting vital signs, obtaining weight, and performing phlebotomy
- Performs quality checks
- Identifies work unit resources needs and manages supply and equipment inventory levels
- Identifies resource needs and develops clinical research documents, such as job aids, tools, processes, procedures, and training. Contributes to the development of protocols
- May assist with training of staff
- Assists with preparation of reports and manuscripts, and the development and presentation of materials through various communications platforms
- Serves as a main point of contact for clinical research participants, providing information regarding research procedures, expectations, and informational inquiries. Ensures participants follow the research protocol and alerts Principal Investigator of issues

Compensation:
The starting salary for the position is $50,000 annually; but is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Preferred Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience coordinating clinical research study visits
- Experience working in clinical research related to Alzheimer’s Disease and other dementias
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree preferred
