Clinical Research Fellow - Medical Center
Georgetown University Medical Center's Neurology department is seeking a motivated and skilled individual to join our Movement Disorders Division as a Research Fellow. This fellowship is designed to provide advanced training in clinical and translational research, focusing on the understanding and treatment of movement disorders such as Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, dystonia, and other related conditions. The successful candidate will work under the mentorship of leading experts in the field, contributing to innovative research projects aimed at improving patient care and advancing scientific knowledge in movement disorders. Daily, the Clinical Research Fellow will report to the Director of Clinical Trials and two Principal Investigators. The Clinical Research Fellow is part of a robust team comprised of four research coordinators, the Director of Clinical Trials, Two Principal Investigators and up to 4 student hires. Additional duties include but are not limited to:
- Conduct and coordinate clinical and translational research projects in the field of movement disorders.
- Design and implement research protocols, including clinical trials and observational studies.
- Perform data collection, analysis, and interpretation of results.
- Prepare research findings for publication in peer-reviewed journals and present findings at national and international conferences.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including neurologists and other healthcare professionals, to develop comprehensive research strategies.
- Assist with grant writing and the preparation of research proposals.
- Engage in patient evaluations and contribute to clinical assessments under supervision.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest advances in movement disorders research and treatments.
Requirements and Qualifications:
- MD, PhD, or equivalent degree in Neurology, Neuroscience, or a related field.
- Strong interest and background in movement disorders, clinical neurology, or neurodegenerative diseases.
- Experience with clinical research, including knowledge of study design, data collection methods, and statistical analysis.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a research setting.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a track record of scientific publications.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements for clinical research and ethical guidelines.
- Must be highly detail oriented, organized, able to follow directions, able to work respectfully in a team, highly motivated, and committed to providing exceptional service.
- Must be able to demonstrate moral and ethical responsibility and always maintain professionalism.
- Must have excellent communication skills with respect to external communication (patients, sponsors, sponsor affiliates) and internal communication (supervisors, team members, PI, Sub-Is, ancillary department).
- Written communication and verbal communication must be clear, relevant, and respectful at all times.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with neuroimaging, neurophysiology, or biomarker research related to movement disorders.
- Prior involvement in Parkinson's disease or dystonia research.
- Proficiency in statistical software and data management platforms.
Work Mode Designation: This position has been designated as On-Campus.
Pay Range: The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position is $47,586.00 - $87,558.13.
